Our Farm's Journey

Welcome to Springvale Mushrooms and Microgreens, a local farm dedicated to producing high-quality, sustainable mushrooms and microgreens for home delivery and wholesale. Our journey began with a passion for sustainable farming and a desire to provide fresh, locally grown produce to our community. We take pride in our small, but dedicated team who work tirelessly to grow and deliver the finest mushrooms and microgreens. Who Are We

Meet the minds behind Springvale Mushrooms and Microgreens!

We are a small team led by husband and wife duo, Jasper and Tanya, on a new journey into growing fresh mushrooms and microgreens for the local food industry.

 

After being raised around his forester grandfather, Jasper spent his summer holidays in Denmark out in the forest foraging, going fishing with his grandfather, and learning about his love for nature and his passion for mushrooms.

A few years later, when working in contract catering and the hospitality industry, Jasper came across a group who were growing microgreens in the bunkers and tunnels underneath London to supply the local fine dining industry. Jasper was amazed at the ingenuity of vertical farming systems that allowed so much growth in such a dark place.

​

It wasn't long before Jasper took a deep dive into the nutritional value of microgreens and the powerful combination of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants packed into these little shoots. During the pandemic, Jasper and Tanya spent their time during lockdown developing a system of low-tech food production in a small area using sustainable practices. 

​

We've always been excited about sustainable practices in our work, from using recycled materials for our reusable delivery boxes, to ensuring that our substrates are reutilized at a local community farm, which will be turned into organic compost for the garden.

From its very inception, the vision for Springvale has been 

that our food will be on the plates of local families who can benefit from all the goodness first and foremost.
